FPC Monroe is proud to partner with Rise Against Hunger to packaging healthy, protein rich, foods for families across the globe that are suffering from food insecurities.  Our efforts have contributed over 170,000 meals so far!  We hope to continue adding to that number in years to come. 

On April 21, 2024, FPC Monroe met our goal of packaging 10,000 meals!  The meals that we packaged are headed to Burundi.  We learned from Rise Against Hunger that Burundi, located  in the Rift Valley in East Africa, faces poverty and high levels of food insecurity.  The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, estimates that Burundi has an "alarming" level of hunger.  

The work doesn't end here.  God willing, we plan to continue to support Rise Against Hunger with another Rice Packaging event.  The first step is to raise funds to pay for the food supplies and shipping costs of the event in preparation for our next Rice Packaging Event, which will likely be held in the Spring of 2025.

In addition to the meal packaging events, Rise Against Hunger helps combat hunger by empowering communitites to develop agriculture and other income-generating initiatives.  Their efforts allow communities to work towards pathways to improve consistent access to food and nutritional outcomes in India, Malawi, Mali, Philippines, South Africa, South Sudan, and Zimbabwe.  If you would like to find out more and support Rise Against Hunger directly, please follow the link below.
