Leadership in the Church
Elders
Presbyterian churches are run by elders, who are members of the church that are elected by the congregation and ordained for service in three year terms. The active elders make up the Session that meets monthly and helps to guide and govern the church. Currently, FPC has 15 elders in three classes of five. In the PC(USA) men and women are allowed to be elders.
Pastor
Pastors of presbyterian churches are sometimes referred to as teaching elders whose sole responsibilties are to preach, teach, and help lead the church. In the Presbyterian system, pastors work with the Session to run the church. At FPC we have one installed pastor and a parish associate.
