Souper Bowl of Caring

Souper Bowl of Caring

The Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-inspired movement to support local food charities in their endeavor to Tackle Hunger.  The FPC Youth Club is proud to support the Community Shelter of Union County in its service to provide food, emergency shelter, and rehousing for those in need by participating in this event.

This year's honoree for First Presbyterian Church of Monroe's Souper Bowl campaign is Bill Thaxton.  Bill cared deeply for the First Presbyterian Church and its efforts to help make the community better.  He was well-known for his love of music and dancing in the aisles when the FPC praise band had its turn.  He met his wife, Janice, in school and built a loving family, and his postive presence is missed dearly.

Over the past three years, every $1 raised in the Souper Bowl of Caring averages $18 worth of food assistance.  That fits Bill perfectly, for he was well known for his ability to stretch a dollar.  Let's honor Bill and his family as we help end homelessness and hunger for our neighbors.

You can donate by check to the church with the words Souper Bowl in the memo or clicking on the above picture to reach our official donation page.

One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour Of Sharing

In a world of disaster, hunger, and oppression, millions of people lack access to sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.  One Great Hour of Sharing supports Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People, which all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need.  From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.  Join FPC Monroe as we participate in the One Great Hour of Sharing.
